: Colours Talk.. They share stories, smiles and silences. They converse with us every day. Starting with the first ray of light, peering out of a grey cloud. Slowly brightening a sleeping world. ColourNext 09 is a celebration of colours born out of imagination and research. It’s the outcome of a comprehensive trend mapping exercise conducted by Asian Paints across India, taking into account a variety of factors like international trends, consumer insights and expert opinions. Join us and experience the colours of tomorrow. Colour Next Research Process Asian Paints Colour Next, the world’s first India-specific colour forecast, has, over the last 6 years, developed & fine tuned a proprietary research process to study the Indian design and décor space, identify emerging directions and develop design themes & colour palettes around them. The process, spread over 6 months and spanning India, involves interactions with a cross section of society, from direct consumers, to designers, to opinion leaders. A wide variety of research methodologies like visual scans, documentation of visual spaces, in-depth interviews, focused group discussions and creative workshops are used during the research. For Colour Next 09, we talked to designers from a wide variety of disciplines – product design, graphic design and textile design, in addition to architects & interior designers. Other professionals from fields like sociology, advertising & media and photography also collaborated with us at different phases of the research. The output was then ratified by two panels of industry leaders and finally presented in the form of the Colour Next Palette of Lead Colours & Supporting Colours for 2009.
