| Asian Paints appoints Mr. P M Murty as Managing Director & CEO
The Board of Directors of the Company at its meeting held today has appointed Mr. P.M. Murty as an Additional Director and a Whole-time Director of the Company. | |||

: P.M. Murty will be designated as the Managing Director & CEO with effect from 1st April, 2009 when the terms of Mr. Ashwin Choksi, Chairman, Mr. Ashwin Dani, Vice Chairman and Managing Director and Mr. Abhay Vakil, Managing Director come to an end. P.M. Murty is a B.Sc. (Hons.) Maths from Calcutta University and a Post Graduate in Management from IIM, Calcutta of 1971 batch. In a career spanning 37 years, P.M. Murty worked in various capacities in the Sales, Materials, Manufacturing Plants and Human Resources of the Company before being elevated to the position of General Manager – Marketing in the mid-90s. He was then assigned the job of forming a new Joint Venture Company with PPG Industries for Automotive Paints and was designated as Chief Executive. In the year 1998, when the Company restructured its business, P.M. Murty was called to head the Decorative Business, the largest business unit of the Company, as the President. The Board of Directors of the Company has at the same meeting appointed Ashwin Choksi, Ashwin Dani and Abhay Vakil as additional directors occupying non-executive positions with effect from 1st April, 2009. Ashwin Choksi will be the Non-Executive Chairman and Ashwin Dani will be the Non-Executive Vice Chairman of the Company. |
