Wastewater treatment process

Bayer Technology Services presents proven environmental protection technologies at the leading international trade fair for the environmental sector.

7 May 2008 : Bayer Technology Services GmbH (BTS) is presenting a number of comprehensive solutions for wastewater treatment at IFAT 2008, the world's leading trade fair for environmental technology and wastewater disposal being staged in Munich from May 5–9, 2008. The company is showcasing the entire spectrum of integrated and downstream wastewater treatment technologies, from conventional solutions to the very latest Bayer developments (Hall A 3, Stand 527).

One highlight at this year's show is the BayFlotech® clarification method, which has been optimized in terms of its energy consumption and operation. The high-performance pressure relief flotation method stands out from other conventional disposal methods primarily because of its energy efficiency and much lower operating costs. By means of a mobile flotation unit (up to 5m³/h), all the necessary design parameters for a reliable scale-up can be established directly on the customers' premises and during day-to-day plant operation. The entire infrastructure is taken into account at the planning stage – from the energy resources and level of automation to the logistics.

Also in the spotlight this year is the LOPROX® (LOw PRessure OXidation) process. This Bayer-patented wet oxidation process is used for the pre-treatment of heavily polluted effluent for biological clarification. Israel's leading manufacturer and exporter of crop protection products, Makhteshim Chemical Works Ltd., is also convinced of the effectiveness of the Bayer technology for the treatment of substances that are difficult to biodegrade. Last year, the Israeli company commissioned BTS to build what is so far the largest ever LOPROX®-based wastewater treatment plant. BTS's technical expertise and its decades of experience in this field were the key factors that led the company to place the order with BTS. With the help of this innovative wastewater treatment process "made by Bayer", Makhteshim will be in a position to comply with – or even remain under – the stricter wastewater thresholds due to come into force in Israel in 2010.
