It is very heartening to see that companies like Hindustan Coca-Cola and organizations such as Rotary International are coming forward to take initiatives in the area of water conservation and ground water recharge.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Bhupendra Suri, Area Operation Director, Hindustan Coca-Cola, said, “It has been our constant endeavor to work with the communities wherever we operate. We share water resources with the local community; therefore we pro-actively work in the area of water conservation and recharge. We have always integrated our business operations with environment friendly practices and to that end we are following four R policies in the area of water, which are Reduce, Recycle, Reuse and Recharge. While Reduce, Recycle and Reuse are being vigorously followed in our day to day operation, it is in the area of ground water recharge where we are working very closely with the community”.
Mr. Suri further added, “We are all consumers of water and therefore we should take collective responsibility to ensure that water resources are conserved and protected for the future generation. To maintain water sustainability, it is very crucial that we capture and direct as much rain water as possible into the ground to ensure that the underground water bank is augmented to meet our present and future demands. All our Rain Water Harvesting initiatives are steps taken in that direction. By undertaking so many Rain Water Harvesting projects in schools, we are also making a concerted effort to create greater awareness amongst the younger generation on the needs of water conservation and who in turn can become the brand ambassador for the cause of water”.
Mr. Ronnie D’Costa,.........................., Rotary International, said, “Day by day, water is becoming a scarce commodity and if the trend of the ground water depletion is not checked in time, . It is in the interest of all every possible steps are taken to stop rain water from running off. Our partnership with Coca-Cola will help in addressing the water woes of communities in the city. Even more importantly, it will go a long way in creating the awareness on the needs of water conservation and recharge. We have also planned a series of workshops for this purpose”.
