: Embarking on its world-wide journey, Coca-Cola FIFA WorldCupTM Trophy, 2010, was unveiled in Kolkata amidst Football enthusiasts and eminent dignitaries. The much awaited World Football's greatest prize was unveiled by Kanti Ganguly - Minister of Sports-West Bengal Govt., Lothar Mathhaus - German Football Legend, Subrata Dutta - Vice President, All India Football Federation (AIFF), Alberto Colaco - General Secretary, AIFF and General Secretary South Asian Football Federation, S.B Ganguly - President, Indian Football Association, LingLing Lui – FIFA, Media Spokesperson along with Atul Singh, President & CEO, Coca-Cola India. Also present were other eminent dignitaries including Saugata Roy - Minister of State, Urban Development, Government of India, Dr. Asim Dasgupta - Minister of Finance, West Bengal Govt, Kshiti Goswami - Minister of PWD, West Bengal Govt.and Pratim Chatterjee - Fire Services Minister, West Bengal Govt.
As part of the celebrations, Jharkhand team, winner of Coca-Cola Mir Iqbal Hussain Trophy, 2010 was also felicitated by Kanti Ganguly - Minister of Sports, West Bengal Govt., Lothar Mathhaus- Football legend along with Atul Singh, President & CEO, Coca-Cola India. As part of the felicitation, each player of the Jharkhand team was awarded a cash prize of Rs 25000. In-addition, the Jharkhand Football Association was also given a cash award of Rs 1 lakh.
The authentic FIFA WorldCupTM trophy made of solid,18-carat gold being brought to India by Coca-Cola for the FIRST time will provide a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to the football enthusiasts across India to catch a glimpse of World Football's greatest prize. The Coca-Cola FIFA WorldCupTM Trophy 2010 is 36.8 cm high and weighs 6,175 grams. The base contains two layers of semi-precious malachite while the bottom side of the Trophy bears the engraved year and name of each FIFA World Cup winner since 1974.
The three day extravaganza of soccer mania will witness an exclusive showcase of the FIFA WorldCupTM Trophy at the Salt Lake Stadium on 16th January '10 essaying the extraordinary journey of the world's greatest football spectacle. Additionally, on 17th January'10 at the stadium, German Football legend Lothar Mathhaus would lift the original Coca-Cola FIFA WorldCupTM Trophy once again, reminding his fans in Kolkata about Germany's historic World Cup win in 1990. The three-day trophy tour will culminate into an extravagant evening of music and entertainment featuring the singing sensation Usha Uttup, followed by performances from Chandrabindoo, a leading Bangla band and an electric concert by Euphoria, India's famous rock band.

About The 2010 FIFA World Cup™
The 2010 FIFA WorldCupTM takes place in South Africa, kicking off on 11 June. It is the first time when 32 final teams are competing for the world's most sought after trophy on the African continent. The final will be played on 11 July 2010 at the Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg. The final draw for the groups took take place in Cape Town on 4 December 2009.

As part of the Coca-Cola Mir Iqbal Hussain Trophy, 20 promising young footballers have been identified and short-listed by AIFF, and will be subsequently coached and groomed to form the National Under-16 Sub-junior Team. Out of these 20 young footballers, 16 most promising players will attend The Coca-Cola International Football Camp in South Africa, to be organized in June 2010 during the FIFA World Cup™. Jharkhand team from the East Zone won the national finals of the 'Coca-Cola Mir Iqbal Hussain Trophy'. |
