Cut #1: "It looks new… and I think that is important to be Taurus. Each one of the famous Taurus's had it's own distinct identity all the way back from the very original through the early 90's they had a distinct identity of their own and that is what I think this one has." :15 sec.
Chief Engineer Peter Reyes (Ray-us) says it is a vehicle that will go a long way to lift the Ford Brand.
Cut #2: "In fact the 80's car was a family sedan, there were no crossovers, minivans were brand new. This car is a car for the driver, and it's the car for the driver who occasionally has to carry five people comfortably." :12 sec.
Vice President of Design, Peter Horbury described the 2010 Taurus as having a combination of powerful lines and yet a certain sophistication and gracefulness.
Cut #3: "And the way we have done that, the power and substance comes from fairly wide shoulders, running the complete length of the car and the gracefulness come from the line which starts off at the front wheel and then falls downwards toward the rear and with this one we've added that sophistication that gracefulness and the language slopes downwards toward the rear which was very much part of the American cars of the 60's and 70's, so it has that combination." :26 sec.
Reyes says this not your 80's, 90's or even your Ford Taurus of 2005… he says this car may be classified as a "Sedan" but it's anything but that.
Cut #4: "This car doesn't look stodgy at all and if you look at what Europe has done with their sedans they've helped change that perception, but again it's in the 50-60 thousand dollar price range, when you see the size of this car, the comfort of this car for the driver, and the technology, the real stunner is that you can get all of this at a Ford price and value will be key." :20 sec.
Inside the 2010 Ford Taurus, Horbury says the car can be both practical and sporty.
Cut #5: "It's a car that the customer will need in order to carry the family and their belongings and yet when the driver is on his or her own, they will feel that this is their personal car. It has that degree of sportyness and individuality which will give it that dual roll." :18 sec.
Chief Engineer Reyes (Ray-us) says once behind the wheel, drivers will immediately notice the changes in the 2010 Ford Taurus because the steering wheel is unlike any other you've ever encountered in a full-size sedan.
Cut #6: "Then you put your hands on the steering wheel and you've got select shift paddles, very much like F-1 formula racing, so not only do you have an automatic transmission but you can select your gear and that's the first touch point that says hey this car is going to drive differently." :13 sec.
If you have a completely redesigned new car, why not a new name… Horbury says.
Cut #7: "The name Taurus has a huge value and it was wasted if we didn't use it." :04 sec.
The 2010 Ford Taurus is the flagship car for Ford because it is driver-centric, and will be in dealership showrooms this summer.
