12 Jan 2010 : In order to carry out diagnostic, servicing and repair work on modern vehicles effectively and cost-efficiently, it is becoming increasingly vital that workshops remain up to date with the latest technological advances. By participating regularly in training and development courses, the workshop employees are able to fulfill these requirements. The Bosch Service Training Centers play a key role in this by providing workshops with a wide range of system-related training programs. Experienced trainers pass on their theoretical and practical knowledge in the fields of automotive electrics and electronics, diagnostics, gasoline and diesel injection, mechanics, brake systems and servicing. The 2010 training program for German speakers includes over 100 course dates, with some courses being offered for the very first time. Many of the training courses have also been updated and revised in line with the latest technological developments. To register online for individual courses or to view the complete course program for 2010, please visit the Bosch workshop portal at www.werkstattportal.bosch.de.

A whole range of new training courses included in the 2010 training program
For the very first time, the 2010 training program includes courses on "ZF steering and passenger car chassis," as well as "ZF drive train" for passenger cars and trucks. These courses are run in conjunction with ZF Services at the Schweinfurt site in Germany. Other new additions to the training program include "Skilled electrical work on high-voltage systems," "Denoxtronic field repair," "Diesel automotive technology – external systems" and "Professional customer service."

Ongoing course improvements
Approximately 3500 associates from workshops, authorities and associations, along with vocational instructors, participate in training courses at the state-of-the-art Bosch Service Training Center in Plochingen near Stuttgart each year. There are two other German-speaking Service Training Centers located in Vienna and Otelfingen in Switzerland. Every year over 60,000 people take part in training courses at the 44 Service Training Centers in 36 countries worldwide. All Bosch Service training courses focus on practical exercises performed in small groups looking at function models, engines and different vehicles. All trainers have practical workshop experience, and regularly share knowledge with the experts staffing the Bosch technical helpline. As a result, training courses not only include the latest information from the Bosch development departments and the original equipment sector, but also look at current problems arising in day-to-day workshop activities. In this way, the automotive mechanics taking part in the training courses are kept up to date, and the workshops are able to provide customers with a first-class service.
