NEC to deliver Digital TV transmitters to Broadcast Denmark
23 Jul 2008 , Tokyo : NEC Corporation announced today that NEC Scandinavia AB (NEC) has been selected by Denmark TV broadcasting system operator, Broadcast Service Denmark A/S (BSD), to establish a digital broadcasting network. The digital TV network is scheduled to commence operation within 2008.

BSD operates the national TV networks in Denmark and will use NEC's new transmitter product series, DTU-52, which can handle both fixed and mobile digital terrestrial TV. BSD will now start building the infrastructure.

- We have been using NEC equipment in other parts of our infrastructure and know that their solutions have demonstrated outstanding performance and reliability. When deciding on which products to use in this stage, NEC once again demonstrated their unique competitiveness and strength in this market, says Finn Sondergaard Pedersen, CEO of Broadcast Service Denmark A/S.

In Denmark, the Analog TV Network will be shut down on November 1, 2009 in the same way as is currently being done in Norway and was done in Sweden in 2007. With digital TV, the viewers get access to more channels with higher quality than with the analogue technology.

The DTU-52 is the latest generation digital TV transmitter from NEC. One of its advantages is the ability to handle both DVB-T and DVB-H while being compact in design and energy efficient. Furthermore, the DTU-52 can transmit between the range of 0.9 kW and 13 kW.

Looking forward, NEC aims to contribute to the establishment of digital broadcasting networks throughout global markets by providing transmitters that broadcast both DVB-H and DVB-T.
