home > Samsung Group > news   Samsung India strengthens its Fully Automatic Washing Machine range - Launches 7 Front Loading & 12 Top Loading Fully Automatic Washing machines - Enhances production capacity of its Noida Washing Machine facility   15 Jul 2009 , Chennai : Digital Technology Leader, Samsung India today announced the launch of its new 2009 range of Fully Automatic Washing machines in the country. The new range comprises of 7 new models in Front Loading and 12 new Top Loading Fully Automatic Washing machines models. The highpoint of the new Samsung Fully Automatic Washing machine range is the introduction of the Diamond Drum feature in the Front loading washing machines for a tangle free wash and 79% less fabric damage as well as the Volt Control feature for withstanding voltage fluctuation between 165V to 400V .The new top loading washing machine line up also stands out on account of its design – Select top loading washing machine models have a beautiful floral design on the transparent window on top while select high capacity top loading models (10.5Kg and 8.5Kg) have a Floral Design Inlay Panel . "The 2009 Samsung washing machine range stands out on account of its advanced, consumer friendly features, superior design as well as the depth of the range with new capacities having been added to the line up. In keeping with the requirement of the Indian market, we have added the Mist Shower feature in the top loading washing machines that reduces the amount necessary for effective rinsing by up to 20%" states Mr R Zutshi, Dy. Managing Director, Samsung India. Samsung India, which is targeting a 50% jump in its Fully automatic washing machine sales this year, has also increased the production capacity of its washing machine facility at Noida. The new Fully Automatic Front loading washing machine range is equipped with a gamut of innovative technologically advanced features such as the Company's revolutionary Silver Nano Technology for 99.99% bacteria free clothes; Diamond Drum for a cleaner, gentler washing experience ; Wool Mark and Volt Control features. The Wool Mark feature, certified by International Wool Secretariat, washes delicate woollen clothes safely and gently, guaranteeing effective laundering of woollen apparel. The Volt Control feature ensures an efficient and long lasting washing machine by protecting it from voltage fluctuations. “The Volt Control feature is especially useful in India to take care off the frequent and sudden surges in voltage", states Mr. Zutshi. The Samsung Front loading washing machines also boast of a 460mm wider front door that offers 20% extra space than a conventional front loading machine, for easy loading and unloading. These Washing machines have incorporated a double ceramic coating (unlike conventional heaters), providing heaters that are less porous and less susceptible to hard water scale build up .This makes the ceramic heater last much longer than conventional heaters and saves power and money. The Company has also introduced India’s first Washing machines with floral designs, in its Fully Automatic Top loading machines along with the introduction of new high capacity models in 10.5Kg and 8.5Kg segment. The Top loading washing machines boast of revolutionary features such as Silver Nano technology, Diamond drum, Double Storm Pulsator and Mist Shower. In the form of its unique Diamond Drum, Samsung has produced the next evolution in drum design to use water more efficiently with a unique series of diamond like depressions. The unique drum with smaller holes ensures a tangle free wash with 79% less fabric damage. The Double Storm Pulsator incorporated in this new range produces better wash results by combining horizontal and vertical water currents within the washing machine drum and reduces fabric entanglement. In keeping with its thrust on design, the Company has also introduced new contemporary lid colours like dark silver (in 10.5Kg and 8.5Kg), blue (in 6.0Kg) and pink (in 5.8Kg) in its top loading washing machine range. With the Introduction of these new models, the Company has a lineup of 30 washing machines comprising of 9 Fully automatic Front loading washing machines, 12 Fully Automatic Top Loading washing machines and 9 Semi Automatic washing machines. The Front loading washing machines are available in the capacities from 5.0Kg to 7.5Kg ranging from Rs. 20,490/- to Rs. 37,900/-. The Top loading lineup is available in capacities ranging from 5.8Kg to 10.5Kg, priced between Rs. 10,690/- and Rs. 25,990/- and the semi automatic washing machines are available in capacities ranging between 6.2Kg and 7.2Kg and are priced between Rs. 7,000/- and Rs. 10,150/-. "Based on our innovative new range introduction, our channel expansion and our new marketing campaign to support this range, we expect to grow our washing machine business by over 30% this Year" states Mr. Zutshi. The Company expects the contribution from its fully automatic washing machine range to be 45% of its total washing machine sales this Year.
