27 Feb 2007 , Munich : Siemens’ innovative AySystem is good news for parents and caregivers. As a “mobile guardian,” the device, which is now poised for market launch, monitors the movements of children and the elderly, enhancing their safety and security. And the new worldwide and universally applicable mobile system, now being showcased for experts, has other monitoring uses as well. Linked to the mobile network via GSM technology, it contains built-in sensors that register temperature, noise levels and movement. If pre-set thresholds are exceeded, the device automatically sounds an alarm. It also sends SMS messages immediately via the mobile network and establishes pre-stored voice connections. Unlike standard mobile phones, the AySystem can be controlled via separate Internet access.

AySystem has a wide array of applications: it can be used as and when required and equipped with a variety of different features. During the day, the remote-controlled system can be employed as a car alarm or to monitor children on their way to school. In the evening, it can be programmed to serve as a baby phone in hotels. AySystem can also serve as an escort for the elderly and disabled, offering individual protection at the press of a button. Emergency calls can be placed via the display. To contact caregivers or emergency facilities, users only have to press the display with their fingertips. AySystem can also be equipped with a GPS receiver and camera to immediately establish a user’s exact location and provide a better overview of his or her surroundings. All features are self-explanatory and easy to use. Settings like sensor thresholds can be made directly on the device itself or remotely via the Internet.
